Richard Tempel, 77, Webster City, died June 1, 1993 at Hamilton County Public Hospital. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Webster City with the Revs. Don Ripley and Clinton Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Richard Tempel, son of Joe and Hilka (Welp) Tempel, was born April 16, 1916 on a farm near Kamrar. He attended rural schools in that area. On Nov. 1, 1941, he married Laura Mae Schaa at Kamrar. The couple farmed southeast of Webster City for over 30 years. He also operated a corn sheller for a number of years. They moved to Webster City in 1961. He retired in 1974.

He is survived by his wife; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and Don Moore of Hampton, Marilyn Tempel of Overland Park, Kan.; grandson, Greg Moore of Hampton; brothers, Virgil of Jewell, Joey of Webster City, Elton of Kamrar; sisters, Katie Hassebrock and Margaret Arends, both of Jewell, Dorothy Hoversten of Radcliffe, Ruth Anderson of Iowa Falls, and Naomi Park of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and bothers, John, Harold and Donald.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Alathean Class of his church.
