Herb T. Granville, 78, Webster City, died Thursday afternoon at the Hamilton County Public Hospital, where he had been a patient for ten days. He had been in failing health for five years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roy Miltner and Rev. John Grabner officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Saturday until 8:00 a.m. Monday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Herbert Truman Granville, son of Hilman and Teresa Nibe Granville, was born January 12, 1912 at Stanhope. He graduated from Stanhope High School in 1929. He was employed at the Farmers National Bank in Stanhope and also Jacobson Clothing in Stanhope.

On August 11, 1940 he married Bonnie Knight at Stanhope. The couple owned and operated grocery stores in Stanhope and Boone for 13 years.

In 1957 he started Granville's Men's Shop in Webster City and continued to manage the store for 25 years, retiring in 1982.

Granville is survived by his wife, one daughter and a son-in-law, Mary Ellen and David Malo, Webster City; two grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas, Webster City; one brother, Orelin Granville, Des Moines; two sisters, Ruby Keese, Boone and Florence Byers, Stanhope, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Granville was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a past council member there. He was a charter member and past president of the Stanhope Lions Club, a past president of the Webster City Chamber of Commerce and also was a member of the Noon Kiwanis and Webster City Country Club. He also was active in various community theatre productions.
