Duane Anderson, age 80, of Jewell, IA died on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Bethany Manor in Story City, IA.

Duane was born on January 10, 1935 in Jewell, Iowa to Charles Daryl Anderson and Luella Marie (Nelson) Anderson. Duane lived in Ames, Michigan, and Kansas before graduating from Shawnee Mission, Kansas High School in 1953. At that time he moved back to Jewell.

Duane served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He married Betty Pamela (Harbord) on October 6, 1963. Duane and Pam had two daughters, Carol Ann Anderson born in 1965 and Paula Kay Anderson born in 1966.

He retired from Central Iowa Co-op in 1997, having worked there for 37 years. He was a past member of the Jewell Fire Department. He was a former member of the Jewell Golf & Country Club and also enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the Jewell United Church of Christ. Despite declining health in recent years, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Allyson, Anna, and Abigail Ervin.

Duane is survived by his wife, Pam, of Jewell, and daughter, Paula Ervin and her husband Scott, of Jewell; three granddaughters, Allyson, Anna and Abigail Ervin, of Jewell; brothers, Don (Virginia) of Colorado Springs, CO; Cecil (Wilma) of Omaha, NE and sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson, of Jewell, as well as several nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carol Ann in 1981 and brother Adrian.
