Funeral services for Miss Charlotte E. Crosley, 86, who for more than 35 years was associated with the Kendall Young library, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. E. G. Brinkmeyer officiating.

Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

Miss Crosley died suddenly at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hamilton county hospital following a stroke. She had been hospitalized the past several weeks.

Miss Charlotte E. Crosley, daughter of Col. George W. and Edna M. Risdon Crosley, was born June 19, 1871, in Webster City, and with the exception of six years spent at Fort Madison, Iowa, where her father served as warden of the state penitentiary, she had always made her home in this community.

In 1911, she became assistant librarian at Kendall Young library under E. D. Burgess and served in that capacity until 1930. She served as acting head librarian from 1930 to 1932 and from 1932 to 1945 headed the library staff.

For two years following her retirement in 1945 she served as library historian.

During her many years with the library she especially enjoyed working with historical materials and arranged complete files on World War I and World War II servicemen from Hamilton county. She also compiled a vast amount of historical data in pictures and articles which she catalogued along with a file of prominent Hamilton county families.

She was very active in the P. E. O. and also in historical organizations, having served this year as co-chairman for the time capsule committee of the Webster City Centennial.

Surviving are one brother, Varick C. Crosley of Webster City; one nephew, Carlton W. Crosley, Webster City; three nieces, Mrs. Mary Eleanor Millen, Los Angeles, Mrs. Virginia Seidman, Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. Marian Happ, Kennilworth, Ill.; and a number of grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
