Don Fleischer, 29, popular young Webster City businessman, died at 7:35 Monday evening at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient since Jan. 16. He had been in poor health the past six months.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran church, preceded by a brief service at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. O. E. Weiss will officiate, with burial being in Graceland cemetery. Military services will be held at graveside.

Donald Fleischer, son of Walter C. and Estella Blanche Fleischer, was born Dec. 22, 1922, at Dunnell, Minn. He was five years old when the family moved to Webster City where his father was pastor of the St. Paul's Lutheran church. He attended the Webster City schools and was graduated with the class of 1940. He attended Webster City junior college.

Before entering service in April, 1943, he was employed at the Jensen Drug store. He served as a staff sergeant in the European theater, being attached to the 79th infantry division. He was discharged from service in April, 1946, and returned to Webster City where he was employed at the Modern Cleaners.

June 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Miss Esther Kallsen, and the couple had since made their home at Webster City. Mr. Fleischer was employed as parts man at the Hamilton County Motor Sales for three years. For about a month and a half before his illness, he was employed at Halverson Shoe store.

He is survived by his wife; his father, Rev. W. C. Fleischer of Pomona, Calif.; four brothers, Walter of Denver, Colo.; Warren of Wheatridge, Colo., Dick and Ron, both of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his mother who died in December, 1944.

He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church. He was a member of the American Legion and of the Webster City Men's chorus.

A friendly, conscientious young man, Mr. Fleischer had made countless friends in this community during his residence here. He was especially fond of music and was active in choir work in his church for many years. During his association with the men's chorus of the Chamber of Commerce, he served as a soloist on many occasions.
