Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning for John L. Gilbert, 56, who died at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at his home nine miles northwest of Webster City. He had been in ill health the past three years.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 Tuesday morning at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with the Rev. Father D. A. Gorman officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Rosary will be at 8 o'clock tonight at the Foster funeral home.

John Leonard Gilbert, son of John and Barbara Gilbert, was born Dec. 15, 1895, on the home farm nine miles northwest of Webster City. He was educated in the elementary schools of Fremont township. He continued to make his home in Fremont township and had always lived on the Gilbert farm.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Barbara Gilbert of Webster City; one brother, Phillip J. Gilbert of this city; three sisters, Miss Anna Gilbert and Miss Susie Gilbert, also of Webster City and Mrs. H. W. (Marie) Heathershaw of Waterloo. Two nephews and one niece, Richard Heathershaw of Chicago, Cpl James Heathershaw in Korea, and Mary Jean Heathershaw of Waterloo also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1935.

Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks lodge in Webster City.

Mr. Gilbert served as a trustee of Fremont township and was always active in community work. A kindly, neighborly man, he had made many close friends in this community during his lifelong residence in Hamilton county.
