Darol "Red" Adams, age 74, of Story City, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2004 at the American Legion Lafayette Post # 59 in Story City. Burial of his cremated remains will take place in Ellsworth at Homewood Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund has been established, gifts may be sent to Flossie Rude at 3052 Wilson Ave. in Ellsworth, Iowa 50075. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.

Darol Gail Adams was born August 29, 1929 in New Hampton to Frank Carl and Anna (Foley) Cull Adams. He graduated from New Hampton High School. Red served in the U. S. Army from 1951 - 1953 and then with the Army Reserve. He retired from the DOT as a field manager. Red was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Kohinoor Lodge # 576, and the Farm Bureau.

Red is survived by his companion, Flossie Rude of Ellsworth; his stepdaughter, Ann McGrath of Eldridge, Iowa; three step-grandsons; a sister, Anna Thompson of Naples, Florida; and other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; brothers, Orlo, Frank and Merle; and a sister, Elizabeth Wilder.
