ELLSWORTH - Mrs. Scott Abell, 71, longtime Ellsworth resident, died suddenly at 5:15 p.m. yesterday while enroute to the Story City hospital. She had suffered a heart attack at her home east of Ellsworth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Ellsworth with the Rev. Don Leo officiating and with burial in Homewood cemetery at Ellsworth. The body will lie in state at the Becker funeral home in Jewell until 1 p.m. Saturday when it will be taken to the church.

Nell Catherine Hawks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Hawks, was born March 5, 1892, at Van Orin, Ill. She moved with her parents to the Ellsworth community in 1906. She was graduated from Ellsworth college at Iowa Falls and she taught rural schools in this area.

On July 18, 1917, she was married to Scott Abell at Clarion, and the couple had since farmed in the Ellsworth community.

She was a member of the Rural Workers Society, the Rebekah lodge and the Homewood Cemetery association.

She is survived by her husband; one son, George William Abell of Ellsworth; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Charles Caruth of Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
