Harold L. Thompson, 82, longtime Webster City resident, died Thursday afternoon at the Stratford Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Raymond M. Roden and Rev. David LaMaster officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 8:30 a.m. Saturday at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Harold Lawrence Thompson, son of John and Margaret Thompson, was born June 18, 1901, near Ellsworth. He was educated in the Ellsworth community but finished high school at Waldorf college, Forest City. He was employed at the Anderson Drug Co. in Stanhope.

On Jan. 6, 1934, he was united in marriage to Helena Mahood at £mmetsburg, and the couple resided in Webster City where he was a partner in a Standard Oil Service station. He was also salesman and assistant manager of the Merrill Coursey car dealership and later salesman for the Van Wyk Dodge Co., and Buell Oldsmobile. Prior to his retirement, he was manager of the Furniture Exchange store.

He was preceded in death by his wife on June 17, 1971, and continued to reside in Webster City.

He is survived by one brother and two sisters, William Thompson of Clifton, Texas, Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Winters of Owatonna, Minn., and Mrs. R R. (Margaret) Tracy of Denison, Iowa.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy; both parents; four brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, and also a member of the church adult Sunday school class; and on the board of directors of the Boone Valley Housing association.
