JEWELL - Mrs. Synva Tyler, 77, of Ames, formerly of Ellsworth, died Sunday at the Hamilton County hospital where she had been a patient since Jan. 3.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church in Ellsworth with the Rev. Raymond Ehlers officiating and with Rev. William K. Benbow of Ames assisting. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery at Ellsworth. The body will lie in state at the Becker funeral home until 1 p.m. Wednesday when it will be taken to the church.

Synva Thompson was born Dec. 16, 1889, at Ellsworth and reared in that community. She was married in 1912 to Ernest B. Tyler at Ellsworth. He preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1942.

She is survived by three children, Arnold Tyler, Chicago, Hubert A. Tyler, Ellsworth, and Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) Redling, Clarion; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Henry and Amos Thompson.

She was a graduate of Augustana college at Sioux Falls, S.D. She served as a member of the Ellsworth school board and was active in all organizations at the Ellsworth Trinity Lutheran. She later was a deaconess for the St. Andrew's church in Ames. For 14 years, she served as a hostess at the Sheldon-Munn hotel in Ames.
