Randall - Word was received Monday morning from Jewell by relatives, stating that Ira Egland died at 1 o'clock Monday morning suddenly of heart trouble at his home in Jewell at the age of 80. He is a brother of Jake and P. K. Egland and Mrs. H. B. Hanson, of Randall.

[Ira Egland, son of Knute and Mary Egland, was born at Ottawa, Illinois, August 2, 1856, and died at his home in Jewell, Iowa, May 6, 1935, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 4 days. With his parents he came from Illinois to Hamilton county, Iowa, when he was but an infant and had lived all his life in this community. For 45 years his home has been here in Jewell.

Mr. Egland was married to Carrie Johnson at Norway, Illinois, April 7, 1882. Two sons were born to this union. One died as an infant; the other son, Earl, a veteran of the World War, died in 1921 of ailments incident to that service.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sisters and 3 brothers; Jake Egland of Randall, Mrs. Annie Thoreson of Jewell, Mrs. Mary Hanson and Peter Egland both of Randall, Carl Egland of Jewell and Mrs. Martha Olson of Elmore, Minn., as well as many other relatives.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery, Jewell, Iowa.]
