Stewart L Brooks, 81, Jackson, Mo . a former Webster City businessman, died Tuesday, Dec 24, 2002 at the Jackson Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home at Webster City, with Pastor Ray Artip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and prior to the service on Monday.

Stewart Lee Brooks, son of Charles and Frances Clabaugh Brooks, was born April 2, 1921 at Stratford. He attended Blairsburg and rural schools at Stratford and attended Stratford High School. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy as an electrician in the Pacific Theatre of Action. On July 3, 1942, he married Marie Leona Morgan at Princeton, Mo. The couple resided in Webster City. With his brothers Melvin and Randall, they owned and operated the Webster City Rewind Shop from 1939 to 1982. They also owned a plastic injection business which was purchased in 1983 by Willie and Bev VanWhye. Mrs. Brooks died July 24, 1990. He moved to Jackson in the fall of 1998.

Mr. Brooks is survived by a son and daughter in-law. Stephen and Betty Brooks, grandchildren, Scott and Stacey Brooks, all of Jackson. Mo., brother. Melvin Brooks of Fort Dodge, sisters, Dorothy Hanson of Webster City; Retta Raines of Deland, Fla., several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Randall and Riley Brooks, sister, Yvonne Prehm.

He was a member of the Church of Christ of Webster City, a 50-year member and former commander of the American Legion Post #191, had former Elks, VFW and Moose Lodge memberships and for 9 years served on the Webster City Planning Commission Board.

Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels of
Webster City.
