Lowell Edwin Wirtz, of Boone, IA, passed away on December 6, 2014. Funeral services for Lowell Wirtz, 94, of Boone, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boone County. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, December 8, 2014 at Schroeder Funeral Home in Boone, Iowa.

Lowell Edwin Wirtz, son of Daniel and Fern (Stolte) Wirtz, was born April 28, 1920 in Boone, Iowa and passed away December 6, 2014 at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa at the age of 94 years.

Lowell grew up in Boone, Iowa and graduated from Boone High School in 1938. In 1949, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Stolte at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boone County, Iowa.

Lowell was a member of the V.F.W. and also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed antiques, cars, trains, and playing cards. He also had a love for vacationing and writing poems.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; Daniel and Fern Wirtz, his brother; Dean, his sister; Elaine, sister-in-laws; Vivian Wirtz and Betty Stolte, and brother-in-laws; Dale Sturtz and Donald Stolte

Survivors include his wife; Evelyn Wirtz, sons; Robert (Debbi) Wirtz and Gary (Kelly) Stanhope, daughter; Marlene (Dan) Edgerton, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
