Funeral services for Mrs. W. J. Zitterell, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. W. R. Yard of Sheffield and the Rev. Oliver A. Enerson of Webster City officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Zitterell died at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient the past 10 days. She had been in failing health the past several years.

Harriet Jane Olmstead, daughter of Oscar and Frances Olmstead, was born March 30, 1866, at New Hartford, Butler county, Iowa. She was still a small girl when the family moved to Waterloo where she received her education and was graduated from high school. She attended Cedar Falls college, later teaching school for eight years in Black Hawk county.

She was united in marriage in 1890 to Dr. Charles Childs of New Hartford. Dr. Childs died in 1893. For several years, Zitterell was employed at the bank in New Hartford.

On Sept. 1, 1898, she was united in marriage to William John Zitterell at Waterloo, and the couple came to Webster City to make their home.

Mr. Zitterell preceded her in death August 30, 1932. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Mrs. Zitterell is survived by one step-daughter, Mrs. R. M. Rhodes of Webster City; five grandchildren, Dudley Rhodes of Spokane, Wash.; Paul Rhodes of Waterloo; James Rhodes of Des Plaines, Ill.; Sgt. Francis Rhodes of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Ron (Harriet) Isaacson of Webster City. Six great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. F. D. Ordway of Waterloo and Mrs. Nan Canfield of Waterloo.

She was baptized in the Baptist faith and a longtime member of the First Baptist church. During the first World War she was very active in Red Cross work and received a citation for her activities. She was also extremely active in social work for many years.

Mrs. Zitterell was a member of the Eastern Star, the D.A.R. and the P.E.O. She was a past president of the Webster City Women's club. For many years she served as a member of the Kendall Young library board.
