Mara Aden, 90, Webster City, died Sept. 30, 1994 at Hamilton County Public Hospital. Funeral services were held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Sorensen officiating and with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Foster Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mara May Throckmorton, daughter of W.S. and Fannie Belle (Carder) Throckmorton, was born May 31, 1904, at Le Roy. She graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1922. She attended Simpson College where she obtained her teaching certificate in 1924. Mara taught at Truro, Dallas Center and Scranton before coming to Webster City in 1928. In Webster City, she taught drama and music.

On June 28, 1933 Mara married George B. Aden of Des Moines. The couple resided in Webster City. She continued teaching until 1936. She was also a homemaker.

She is survived in death by her husband, George; a daughter and son-in law, DeAnne and Fred Richards Jr. of Richardson, Texas; grandsons Rick, Craig and J. J. Richards; great-grandsons Chase and Kirby Richards; five nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Carder and Clifford Throckmorton; and sister Willa Joy Throckmorton.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women, PEO, the Sharon Chapter of Eastern Star, for which she was a past matron, Daughters of the American Colonists and the Women's Club, of which she was a past president.
