Leo Powgnas, 65, Duncombe, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Ray Powell officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rite will be conducted by American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.

Leo Ernest Powgnas, son of Nick and Cora Palo Powgnas, was born March 17, 1935 on a farm near Alden. He attended a rural school near Alden and graduated from high school at Clarion in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army-Infantry for two years at Fort Sill, OK. On June 5, 1959, he married Marcia Lubbers at Webster City where they resided. He worked at Celotex in Fort Dodge and 31 years with Franklin's (Frigidaire), retiring in 1997. He also had farmed for several years south of Webster City. After retirement, he mowed cemeteries in the Duncombe area and assisted area farmers.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia, daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly Kauffman of Webster City, Karol and Tim Stubbs, Winside, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Roxi Powgnas, Norwalk; 12 grandchildren, sister, Kathryn Baker, Ames; step-brother, David Bahr, Derby, KS; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Daisy Powgnas and a brother, Henry Powgnas.

He was a member of the North Central Antique Tractor Club, and U.A.W. local # 442.
