Ruth Hall, 75, Webster City, died Dec. 20, 1993 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational-United Church of Christ with the Rev. Ward Malloy officiating. Private committal services will be held prior to the memorial service at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home.

Ruth Evelyn Brown, daughter of Charles and Mary (Dingman) Brown, was born Jan. 28, 1918 on a farm south of Stratford. She attended rural school in the Stratford area and graduated from Webster City High School in 1938.

On Sept. 3, 1939, she married John O. Hall at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City. She was employed at J.J. Newberry's and was also secretary for the Hamilton County Engineer for 10 years; and was a receptionist-bookkeeper for Dr. Ptacek. She retired in 1978. She continued to reside in Webster City and the couple wintered in Texas.

She is survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Richard Grimm of Waterloo; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Linda Hall of Webster City, Thomas and Laurie Hall of Muscatine; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Daniels of Duncombe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, James V.; her parents; brother, Charles Brown; and sisters, Leola Brown and Ethel Westrum.

She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and was involved in many church and community activities including the Hawkeye Dodger Good Sams and S.O.S. Memorials may be given to the Heart Association or her church.
