Gayle E. Maudlin, 79, Webster City, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Center from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Gayle E. Maudlin, son of Henry and Elsie Dial Maudlin, was born Oct. 15, 1925 at Nevada, Iowa. At the age of 10, he moved with his family to Webster City. He attended schools in Nevada and Webster City, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1944. During World War II, he served with the U S Army Air Corps as a cadet in the pilot training program. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to Webster City and joined the family business. On April 1, 1949, he married Joanne Barbara Chnstenson at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. He was president of Maudlin Construction Company, retiring in 1985. He continued to reside in Webster City.

Mr. Maudlin is survived by a son, Alan Maudlin of Fort Dodge, sister. Hazel Burt of Laguna Woods, Calif.; nephews and wives, Bill and Pat Burt, Webster City; Tom and Carolyn Maudlin, Spirit Lake, Tim and Jan Maudlin, Eden Prairie, Minn., niece and husband, Linda and Mike Hitt of Aliso Viejo, Calif, niece and friend Kris Burt and Wally Ackerson of Las Vegas, Nv., great-nieces Aarhn Keller of Webster City, Deb Cappello of Ankeny, greatnephew Andy Hitt of Aliso Viejo, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Wayne Maudlin in 1972.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a 60 year member of American Legion Post #191, Webster City Moose Family Center, a former Elks Lodge member, University of Iowa-I Club member, former memberships include the Board of Directors of Associated General Contractors of Iowa, Asphalt Pavers Association of Iowa and the Iowa Gravel Roads Association.
