Henry Richard Maudlin, son of Ira Scott and Eva Watts Maudlin, was born Nov. 24, 1893, at Worthington, Ind. He was reared and educated in that community.

He was married Dec. 23, 1915 to Elsie Martha Dial, and the couple lived in Nevada, Iowa, where he founded the Maudlin Construction Co. in 1921. The family moved the firm to Webster City in 1935 where Mr. Maudlin served as president of the company until 1975. He served as chairman of the board until 1977 when he retired and moved to Fort Dodge to make his home at Friendship Haven.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Burt of Webster City; a son, Gayle E. Maudlin, Webster City; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Vinnie Laymon of Titonka, Iowa, one brother, Theodore Maudlin of Indianapolis, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, H. Wayne Maudlin; his parents; one brother and one sister.

He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist church; the Masonic Orders, the Eastern Star; and was a past member of the Webster City Kiwanis club, having served as president of the club in 1946.

He was a charter member of the Iowa Gravel Roads association and a longtime member of the Association of General Contractors of Iowa.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Asbury United Methodist church, and the Chapel of the Hill at Friendship Haven.
