John Klaver, 71, a longtime Webster City area resident, died Saturday at Del Rio, Texas following a cardiac arrest suffered Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 30 p.m Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Homer A. Doak officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery

John Klaver, son of George and Jennie Tempel Klaver, was born Oct. 25, 1901 near Kamrar, where he was reared and educated. He was united in marriage July 28, 1923, to Freda Hemmen, and the couple farmed near Blairsburg, later farming near Webster City. Since 1970, they had made their home at 1121 Kathy Lane in Webster City.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs Keith (Ardis) Hunt of Red Oak; four grandchildren, Julie, Jeff, Janis and James Hunt; five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Henry (Tillie) Hanson of Webster City, Mrs. Evert (Gertie) Letcher, Buffalo Center, Peter Klaver of Jewell, Mrs Fred (Jennie) McCameron of Cresco, Mrs. Victor (Freda) Lockwood of Kamrar, Mrs. Marie Read of Webster City, and Bernard Klaver of Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational and a longtime member of the A.A. club.
