Funeral services for Paul L. Ackley, 84, lifelong Blairsburg area farmer, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ, Congregational, at Blairsburg with Dr. James P. Carcia officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Mr. Ackley died Wednesday morning at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, where he had been a patient for one week. He had been in ill health the past two years.

Paul Leo Ackley, son of Edward and Anna Ackley, was born Jan. 31, 1894, in Liberty township. He was reared and educated at Blairsburg and attended college in Minneapolis.

During World War I, he served with the U.S. Army.

On Feb. 21, 1954, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Risk, and the couple resided on a farm in Liberty township until December, 1978, when they moved to Jewell.

He is survived by his wife; three step-daughters, Mrs. Jack (Fern) Reinsel of Blairsburg, Mrs. Earl (Arlene) Mutchler of Rockford, I11., and Mrs. Ned (Phyllis) Patterson, El Cajon, Calif.; seven stepgrandchildren; 10 step-greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Beam, Mrs. Ella Bedsaul and Mrs Sibyl Costa, all of California, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational, at Blairsburg. He was secretary of the Blairsburg Cooperative Elevator for 25 years; a member of the American Legion Post 550 of Jewell; the Elks lodge 302 of Webster City; the Webster City Moose Lodge 735; the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; Elmo Lodge 62, Webster City; was a Mason for many years, a member of the Alamo Lodge 547, AF and AM, of Williams; and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of Des Moines.
