Jacqueline Mortvedt Volkens, 82, of Ames, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jim Norem and Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Jacqueline Volkens was born Dec. 2, 1928, in Hardin County, to Wesley D. and Louise C. (Kruthoff) Oswood. She grew up in Iowa Falls and Des Moines, where she graduated from North High School. She married David Mortvedt on Sept. 4, 1948, and they later divorced. She raised her family in Randall and then moved to Ames. She retired from ISU food services in 1990, after 11 years.

She is survived by her four children, Roxanne (Tom) Bell, of Jewell, Dennis (Terri) Mortvedt, of Keller, Texas, and Deb (Keith) Arneson and Loree (Mark) Hanson, all of Ames; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Lisa Oswood Rogers, of Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald Oswood; and grandson, Robbie Hanson.
