William G. Whipple died Oct. 19, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

He was born to Grant J. and Margaret V. Whipple on March 12, 1929. He graduated from Webster City High School and DeVry Institute of Chicago, Ill. He served in the Korean campaign from 1948-1952 as a Navy SeaBee. He was employed by Western Electric and Sperry Univac of Minneapolis, Minn. as a computer defense systems electronic specialist.

He is survived by two sisters, Gloria (Olaus) Oppedahl of LaMirada, Calif. and Kay (Kendall) Klaver of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Duane L. Whipple and Ronald D. Whipple.

He requested no services.
