Melvina M. Wuebker, 85, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Fr. Richard S. Ries officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell City.

There will be a private family visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and a public visitation to follow from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, with a Parish Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m., all at the church.

Melvina M. Hoffman Wuebker was born May 4, 1925 near Willey, Iowa. On Feb. 6, 1945 she was united in marriage to Wilbert H. Wuebker at Holy Angels Church in Roselle, and seventeen children were born to this union. The couple farmed northeast of Breda. In 1961, they established their home on a farm south of Rockwell City, where they farmed until their retirement. Melvina also had worked as a cook for the Calhoun County Home and later Sunnyview Independent Living. In 1996, the couple moved into Rockwell City. Wilbert passed away in 2001.

Melvina is survived by her children, Marvin (Carolyn) Wuebker, Merle (Cheryl) Wuebker, Loren (Sandy) Wuebker, Glenn (Andrea) Wuebker, Janet Main, Neil (Donita) Wuebker, Rose (Ernie) Hansen, and Joel (Monica) Wuebker, all of Rockwell City, Monica (Leon) Rotert of Carroll, Larry (Dee) Wuebker of Manson, Diane (Marlin) Claude of Webster City, Wayne (Janet) Wuebker of Afton, Leon (Linda) Wuebker of Gilbert, Joan (Dale) McCleish of Urbandale, David (Cindy) Wuebker of Sac City, Mark (Eileen) Wuebker of Story City, and Michael (Tina) Wuebker of Lohrville; 65 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; brother Lynn Hoffman of Roselle; and sisters, Emaline Halbur and Louvine Pottebaum, both of Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert; two grandchildren, Daniel and Laura Wuebker; her parents, X.F. and Mathilda Kennebeck Hoffman; brother, Eugene Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Bernice and Elaine Hoffman; and son-in-law, Kenneth Gordon.
