George Jensen, age 93, of Williams died on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday September 30th at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at St Paul's Lutheran Church. The Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams is in charge of arrangements.
George J. Jensen was born in Williams, Iowa on April 5, 1917 to Jens and Maggie (Gilbertson) Jensen. George graduated from Williams High School in 1937. On September 9, 1938, George was united in marriage to F. Lenore Bell in Bethany, Missouri. George served in World War II from 1944 to 1946 where he was a gunner on a submarine chaser for the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion in Williams, Iowa and he worked at Ralston Parina where he retired in 1979. After retiring, George loved to help out on the farm in any way that he could, especially mowing the lawn, and spending time with his family. George and his family shared tremendous mutual love and respect for each other. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
George is survived by a daughter Marlene (Wayne) Anderson of Williams, Iowa; a son George (Maria) Jensen of Iowa City, Iowa; two granddaughters, Margie (Bill) Scott of Gilbert, Iowa and Michelle Jensen of Iowa City, Iowa; two grandsons Allen (Roxanne) Anderson of Williams, Iowa and Dean (Vicki) Jensen of Iowa City, Iowa; eleven great-grandchildren Jordan, Summer, Andrea and Faith Anderson, Rachel and Emily Claman, Taylor and Sarah Scott, Grace, George, and Maggie Jensen; and one brother John (Frances) Jensen of Dubuque, Iowa.
George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lenore, five sisters, and three brothers.
