Webster City Freeman Journal, September 21, 2010.

David A. Stafford, 67, passed away Sept. 18. Services are at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. He is survived by son Shannon of Indianola, and daughter Steffanie Stafford of Sturgeon Bay, Wisc.

Dave was born July 19, 1943 in Webster City, IA. to Harris R. Stafford and Ila Jane (McDonald) Stafford. He graduated from Grinnell - Newburg High School in 1961. On April 10th 1965 he was married to Margi L. Overbeck in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Their two children are Shannon David Stafford Indianola, IA and Steffanie Noel Stafford of Sturgeon Bay, WI. Grandchildren are Sophia Lynn Stafford and Quinn David Stafford both residing with their parents Shannon and Jan in Indianola IA.

Dave is survived by his two children, the two grandchildren, and three brothers, Lee of Hot Springs Village, AR, Roger of Killen, TX and Wayne of Amenia, ND.

Dave graduated from The University of Wisconsin - River Falls in 1965 with a B.S. degree in economics. While at the university he helped found The U.W.R.F. Rodeo Club which brought intercollegiate rodeo to the university campus. He was president of the rodeo club and a member of the rodeo team until his graduation. Upon Graduation he went to work for International Harvester Co. in St. Paul, MN. He was with the company until 1968. In 1971 he started working for the John Deere dealership in Grinnell, IA where he spent the next 17 years, eventually becoming the owner. After selling the dealership in 1988 and spending a few years in Colorado, Dave settled on his ranch in Lucas, IA. where he lived until his passing.

Funeral services for David A. Stafford were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, IA. Family met with friends from 6-8 Tuesday September 21, at the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Emily Allen. Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice.
