Marie Louise Erickson, 83, of Clarion died September 18, 2010, at Careage of Clarion in Clarion.

Mass of Christian burial for Marie Erickson will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion with Rev. Nils Hernandez officiating. Burial will be at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. A scriptural wake service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home Monday night.

Marie was born on June 26, 1927 at home on her parent's farm around Blairsburg, Iowa and attended school in Blairsburg, where she graduated from high school. She married Milford "Mike" Erickson in 1946 and they lived in Webster City for several years where she was employed in the meat department of a grocery store. The couple left Webster City to farm in the Woolstock area and then near Galt until her husband's death in 1990. During the many years the couple farmed, Marie raised chickens and acquired quite a collection of chicken memorabilia. She loved being outdoors, gardening and bird watching. She was also known for making the best rolls and angel food cakes in Wright County.

Survivors include her seven loving children, Tom and his wife Nancy, Clarion; Connie, Chicago, Illinois; James, Dows; Pat Fender, Clarion; John, Clarion; Mary Fox, Williamsburg; and Susan, Chicago, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Yvonne Hofsommer, DeWitt; and Marilyn Pals and her husband Wayne, Belmond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, John and Margaret Hilpipre and her brother-in-law, Roy Hofsommer.
