David Cole, age 50, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.

David was born on September 23, 1959 in Grinnell to Judy (Johnston) and Lyle D. Cole. He lived there until age 14 and moved with his family to the Webster City area where he attended high school. Dave married Ryann Alexander September 10, 1994 and two beautiful daughters, Jenna, age 11, and Julia, age 4, were born to the family. They were truly the light of his life. Dave was a logistics manager for TMC at the Ankeny John Deere plant for the past several years. He was especially proud of the Wheel Master status given to him by TMC. He loved coaching soccer and caring for his family and home.

Dave is survived by his wife, Ryann; daughters, Jenna and Julia, all of Pleasant Hill; his parents, Lyle and Judy of Webster City; grandmother, Masae Cole of San Gabriel, CA; sister, Helen (Duane) Youngdale and their son, Cole of Webster City; sister-in-law, Robin (Jeff) Wisgerhof of Dallas Center; brother-in-law, Kent Alexander of Altoona; and many loving relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank Dave's doctors, nursing staff, and the many family and friends who have been so supportive through the past fourteen months of his illness.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00pm Friday, January 15, 2010 at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. The funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 16 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove, Des Moines. Interment at Canfield Cemetery, Altoona, will follow a reception at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for Jenna and Julia's college fund.
