Lucille E. Larson Quick of Stratford, passed away at Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday afternoon, December 11, 2009 where she had been a resident since December 2004.

She was born on June 8, 1912 in Stratford to Hilder and Agnes (Erickson) Anderson. Lucille attended Marion No. 4 Country School and graduated from Stratford High School in 1929. Following graduation, she attended the University of Commerce in Des Moines, Iowa.

Lucille married John S. Larson on September 3, 1930, at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. She and John farmed near Stratford until John's death in 1975. To this marriage were born two children; a son, Erling and a daughter, Janet.

Following John's death, Lucille moved to the town of Stratford. During that next ten plus years, she was active in Community affairs and traveled around the United States, Hawaii and Europe. She enjoyed these trips and the people she met along the way.

On October 24, 1987, she was united in marriage to Stanley C. Quick, a widower and long time friend. Lucille and Stanley were very involved as volunteers in Stratford's congregate meals program and other Senior Citizen functions.

Lucille was a life-long resident of Stratford. She was presented a "Century Farm" award by Gov. Branstad in 1985. She was a dedicated volunteer and acquainted with most of the Stratford area residents.Lucille was baptized and confirmed in the Stratford Lutheran Church and remained an active member her entire life. She was a Past President of both the Stratford and Hamilton County American Legion Auxiliaries and served for many years as the Poppy Chairman. Lucille was an active participant in the Elderbridge Program and attended a number of the Elderhostel events. In 1989, Gov. Branstad presented her with an award as Hamilton County's Outstanding Senior Citizen and again in 1991, he presented her an award for Extended Service in Elder Care Review.

Her parents; husbands; John Larson and Stanley Quick; a brother Orville Anderson; infant siblings Hilden, Marguerite and baby girl Anderson; a granddaughter Kristin Myers; and a step-son Larry Quick preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son Erling Larson and wife Carolyn of Boone; a daughter Janet Myers and husband Ernie of Johnston, Iowa; 7 grandchildren Jeff (Pam) Larson, Lisa (Tom) Carpenter, Jay (Alison) Larson, Lori (Tim) Hopkins, Steve (Sheila) Myers, Tom (Amy Jo) Myers and Karen Reidy (Dave Corkins); 17 great-grandchildren; a sister Audrey Olson; two sisters-in-law Betty Anderson and Ardelle Phipps all of Stratford; step-sons Dr. Stanley Quick, Jr. and wife Stephanie and Harlan Quick and wife Marcia; step-daughter-in-law Pam Crawford and husband David; 4 step-grandchildren Karin (Jeffrey) Quick Peltola, Dr. Tom (Judy) Quick, Bell (Jennifer) Quick, Christina (Eric) Henderson, Angela Quick (Erik Iverson, and Carma Quick; numerous great-great-grandchildren and step-great and step-great-great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, their families and other relatives.

Services will be held on Tuesday morning, December 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the South Marion Cemetery southeast of Stratford. Friends may call at the Stratford Lutheran Church on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue Tuesday morning at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
