Alan W. Moore, 78, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital in Pensacola, FL from complications of injuries he received in an auto accident in Gulf Shores, AL on January 6, 2009.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, April 24, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4114 Allison Avenue, Des Moines, IA. Burial with Military Honors will be at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7, Thursday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel.

Alan served in the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was retired after 30 years at Armstrong Rubber Company in Des Moines, IA.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Van Langen; sons, Jeffery (Julie), Matthew (Linda) and Mitchell; grandson, Josh and granddaughters, Jennifer and Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Moore; brother, William, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth and sister-in-law, Dorothy Van Langen.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Men's Club at Willow Creek Golf Course and VFW Post 9668.
