Roger L. Peterson, 58, of Webster City died Thursday, Oct. 1 at Mary Greely Hospital in Ames after a two-year battle with melanoma.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. Pastors Michael Kroona and Tony Ede will officiate. Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Manson.
Visitation will be at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour at the church Tuesday, prior to the service.
Roger Lee Peterson was born Dec. 4, 1950 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge to Merle and Alice Peterson of Manson. He graduated from Manson High School in 1969 and Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. in 1973. On October 21, 1972 he married Barbara Draper in Pipestone, Minn.
The couple moved to Webster City in 1973 where Roger began employment with Franklin Manufacturing, forerunner of the current Electrolux Home Products plant in Webster City. He devoted his entire 36 years of employment to the company.
Roger was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with family and friends at Briggs Woods golf course in Webster City and the Manson Country Club. He was also a big Hawkeye fan and enjoyed going to football games and tailgating with his family and friends. In his later years he was especially fond of being with and playing with his grandchildren.
Roger was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for the last 30 years, where he served on numerous committees including the Church board and as treasurer. He also served on the Webster City United Fund board and was a past president of the group.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life of 37 years, Barbara; two sons, Ryan (Amy) of Iowa City and Reid of West Des Moines, and grandchildren Kamryn and Rory; two brothers, Larry of West Des Moines and Darrell of Wimberley, Tex.; and two sisters Janice (Elmer) Meyer of Pomeroy, Shirley (Alan) Berg of Rockwell City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Peterson.
