BERG Omer Edward "Eddie" Berg, age 87, born September 15, 1921 in Ellsworth, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in Columbus, Oh.

Eddie was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran, Chief Petty Officer on the USS Solace and survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was a member of West Gate Lodge #623 F.&A.M., Past President of Elks Lodge #37, member of Moose Lodge #11, Fort Meyers V.F.W., Columbus Indoor Tennis Club, New Albany Country Club, and was very involved with the Buckeye Boys Ranch.

Eddie was the President and CEO of Capitol Beverage Distributing. He also worked for B & N Realty and the State of Ohio Department of Taxation. He enjoyed golf, tennis, playing cards, and Happy Hour.

Preceded in death by wife Pauline, parents Olaf and Sadie Berg, brother Sylvan "Skip" and sisters Betty, Viola, Inger, and Stella.

He is survived by wife, Lillian and her family, Sandy and April; son, Jerry (Linda) Berg; grandson, Jamie Berg and his son Justin; granddaughter, Michelle (Pat) Smiley and their son, Michael; niece, Vicki (Tony) LaTorre and their children, Tracey (Mike), Nicole (Jeff), and Eddy (Tina) and families; and sisters, Bea, Virginia, Ruby, and Ruth.

Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, August 31 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., where friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Interment with military honors at Sunset Cemetery.
