Mary Scieszinski, 88, of Webster City, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at the Hamilton Hospital at Webster City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. John Flaherty, celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Melrose, Iowa. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home at Webster City from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to the Mass on Saturday. A Scripture service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday followed by Recitation of the Rosary.
Mary Lillian Donahue, daughter of James and Sara Barry Donahue, was born December 8, 1915 at Melrose, Iowa. She received her education at Dougherty and attended college at Ottumwa Heights and Mason City Junior College. She taught in rural schools in Cerro Gordo County for three years. On November 3, 1937, she married Patrick Joseph Scieszinski at Dougherty. The couple resided at Dougherty and her husband was employed with the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad. In 1953, he was transferred to Webster City. She had worked as a clerk with J.C. Penney's at Webster City for 15 years. She retired in 1977. Mr. Scieszinski died November 3, 1989. She continued to reside at Webster City.
Mrs. Scieszinski is survived by daughter, Sister Mary Louise P.B.V.M. of Humboldt; sons, Joseph Scieszinski of Webster City; James Scieszinski of Simi Valley, Calif.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters in infancy, Margaret and Mary Scieszinski; sister, Margaret Donahue; brother, James Donahue.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and Heritage Hunters.
