Researched from the Lehigh Valley Argus, Apr.23, 1914, " Mrs. Elvira Williams Newton passed away at her home in Homer, Monday night, age 74 years, death being due to old age and complications of diseases. Funeral services were held in the Christian church, conducted by Rev. John Estick. Interment in the Homer cemetery."

OBITUARY:Miss Elvina Needham was born at Canton, Ohio, Feb. 26, 1840 and died of apoplexy, at her home in Homer, April 14, 1914, after three days illness. She came to Iowa at the age of fifteen. She married Thomas Williams in 1857, he dying in 1864. To this union were born four children; Josiah M. Williams near Stratford, Albert W. Williams of St. Louis, Mo, .Mrs. E. E. Claflin near this city and Mrs. J.W. VonNieda of Adel, Iowa. Mrs. Williams was again married in 1866 to D.B.Newton of New York state. To this union were born four children: Allen Newton residing south of this city; Frank Newton of Mitchell, S.D.; and Mrs. Frank J. Bentley of this city. The funeral was held at the Christian church in Homer at two o'clock, April 15th. The deceased having united with that church of which she was a faithful member, at the age of 15.
