Adena “Dena” B. Shepherd, 85, of Story City, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Sixteen Cemetery north of What Cheer, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City.

Adena “Dena” B. Shepherd was born September 25, 1921 to Charles Henry and Velda Leonore (Forncy) Wiedow near Victor, Iowa. She graduated Deep River High School in 1939 and Thompson’s School of Cosmetology in 1941.Dena and Robert Henry Shepherd were married on June 30, 1939. She had lived in Stanhope since 1940 and operated Adena Beauty Salon. Dena was a member of Stanhope Parrish and Commercial Club in Stanhope and enjoyed antiques.

Dena is survived by one son, Robert Shepherd and his finance’ Shelley Moss; one daughter Donna Satre and her husband Roger of Ames; one brother Harold Wiedow of North English, Iowa; one sister Violet Wise of Davenport, Iowa; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a very special friend Francis Bradshaw of Ames.

Dena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; one brother, Clark Wiedow; and three sisters, Elizabeth Cranston, Alice Wolf, and Helen Murray.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts my be given to Bethany Manor. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City has been entrusted with the arrangements.
