Melford W. Schweppe, 96, of Hartville, Missouri, a former Jewell and Webster City resident, died Friday, July 13, 2007 at his daughter's home at Hartville. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Liberty Center Cemetery, south of Blairsburg, with Pastor Richard Laird officiating. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday prior to the graveside.

Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Melford Walter Schweppe, son of George and Rena Riley Schweppe, was born December 15, 1910 at Webster City. He graduated from Kamrar Public school in 1928. On February 14, 1933, he married Pearl Geneva Pollock at South Sioux City, NE. The couple farmed southwest of Webster City for many years. He worked at Elm Park school for nine years. They retired to Jewell in 1980. Mrs. Schweppe died November 1, 2000, he later moved to Hartville. Melford is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Coleen and Don McNair of Hartville; daughter-in-law; Barbara Schweppe of Stanhope; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildre; sister, Neva Eckstein of Altoona; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Schweppe in 1999; sister, Opal Butler; brother, Edwin Schweppe.

He was a member of the Church of Christ at Webster City and the Acacia Masonic Lodge # 176 A.F. and A.M.
