Frederic "Fred" George Hahne, resident of Edmond,Okla., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at the age of 66.
He was born April 15, 1941, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Dick and Louise Jacobson Hahne. He grew up in Iowa before attending military school in Wisconsin. He then attended the University of Miami in Florida and later the University of Minnesota where he earned his Master’s Degree in Economics. He entered the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He married Kathleen Schumacher on June 12, 1965, in Minnesota. Soon after, they moved to Webster City, Iowa, where he was President of Fred Hahne Printing Company. He later went to work for New York Life and was relocated to Oklahoma City in 1989 as a training manager. At the time of his death, he was the Oklahoma City and Tulsa Compliance Officer, having served over 25 years with New York Life. He was an active member of St. Monica Church and gave so much of his time and talents to the church. He enjoyed social events with Beta Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapter and his special gourmet group. He was a kind, loving, and giving husband, son, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy, three children, Kim Sorum and husband Rob, Chris Hahne and wife Jandra, and Courtney Hahne; six grandchildren, Tyler, Grant, Jarod, Faith, Elaina, and Evan; brother, Richard Hahne and wife Jane, and sister, Jennifer Priebe and husband Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May Ave. Mass will be celebrated Friday, Oct.12 at 11 a.m. at St. Monica Church in Edmond. Contributions may be made in his name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
