Julie K. Christensen, 60, of Ankeny, died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines following her courageous struggle with cardiac, renal and Parkinsons disease. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City with Rev. Bob Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Fosters.

Julie was born on February 5, 1947 to Vernie and Kathryn Johnson in Webster City. She graduated from Stratford High School, Bernell Cosmetology College, and DMACC. On August 5, 1967 she was united in marriage to David Christensen in Ames. They celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. Her career was as a cosmetologist for Younkers and she retired as a telemetry technician at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Julie was a member of the Ankeny First United Methodist Church. She loved her family, friends, and Schnauzer dogs.

She is survived by her husband, David of Ankeny; son, Andrew of Oxford, WI.; mother, Kathryn Johnson and brother, Keith Johnson both of Webster City; sister, Vicki (Ron) Lyon of Cambridge; nephew, Matt (Allison) Lyon of Urbandale; and niece Jill Lyon of Iowa City.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Vernie Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ankeny First United Methodist Church or the Animal Rescue League.

Julie’s family commends the physicians and staff of the Iowa Clinic, Iowa Heart Center, Iowa Methodist Medical Center and the Carlisle Care Center for their expert and compassionate care.
