Roy E. Hedeen, 86, Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 18 at First Baptist Church, Fort Dodge, with Rev. Stephen Fagerburg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.

Surviving is his daughter, Donna Thorson of Webster City; grandchildren, Michelle, Holly, Mike, Lonna, Jolene; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Leola Mundt and her husband Paul of Gowrie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ona (Sells) Hedeen; his wife, Dolores; son, Dennis Hedeen; granddaughter, Amanda Hedeen; son-in-law, David Thorson; brothers, Franklin and Hollis Hedeen.

Roy E. Hedeen was born February 15, 1921 in Gowrie, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Gowrie and Farnhamville. In October of 1942 Roy was united in marriage to Dolores (Dodie) Biskeborn. The couple established their home on a farm west of Fort Dodge. Roy farmed until retiring in 1980. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his workshop, telling jokes, and spending time with family and friends.

Roy was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a past trustee and Deacon.

In 2006 he became a tenant and resident at Southfield Wellness Community/ALF/NH.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
