Aurora Brooks, 82, of Webster City, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at St. Marys Medical Center at Rochester, Minnesota. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Joe Fogle officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Aurora LaMar Hutson, daughter of Vinton and Mathilda Eseline Myhre Hutson was born November 30, 1924 on a farm south of Webster City. She attended Webster City Schools graduating in 1942 from Lincoln High. In 1944, she joined the WAVES, where she met Frank W. Stark who was from Saginaw, MI. On June 20, 1946, they were married in Leonardtown, VA. From this union, a daughter, Cynthia LaMar Stark was born. Later they were divorced. On January 21, 1949, she married Riley H. Brooks at Webster City. To this union, a daughter, Ranee Lanett Brooks was born.

Aurora was a stay at home mother thru the early years of her daughters lives. Later she worked for Glen Weldon Insurance Company, the Rewind Shop, the Insurance Center and with her husband in his businesses, Verco Manufacturing and Memorial Markers. She also kept busy in later life

working for Farm Journal.

Aurora is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia Riley of Webster City; Ranee and Stuart Greenfield of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Lanett Bair of Badger; Noelle Runyan of Lee’s Summit, MO; Denise Fortune of Webster City; T-Sgt Nicholas Greenfield of Beale Air Force Base, CA; Veronica Hurt of Blairsburg; Jonathan Riley of Fort Dodge; 20 great-grandchildren, sister, Avis Bennett of Sun City, AZ; brother, Ivan Hutson of Pleasanton, CA; several nieces and nephews.

For over 60 years Aurora was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she held various offices. She also enjoyed singing in her church and with her family members. She sang in the Women’s Club Chorus and the Sweet Adelines.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son (twin to Ranee); sister, Phyllis Fort; granddaughter, Keria Riley; great-granddaughters, Van Vickle twins.
