Mabel Van Doren, 96, of Webster City, died Friday, May 18, 2007 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Ryan Christenson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from5-8 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday.

Mabel Lucille Urich, daughter of Amos and Laura Stone Urich, was born February 27, 1911 at Webster City. She received her education in Webster City schools. On June 20, 1928, she married Richard A. Lester at Louisville, KY. The couple resided at Webster City. She was a homemaker. On November 7, 1953, she married Carroll Van Doren at Howard, SD. The couple resided at Webster City. Mr. Van Doren died October 7, 1991.

Mrs. Van Doren is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ivan “Bud” and Marian Lester of Panora; Dale and Donna Lester of Racine, WI; Jerry and Zenita Lester of Leicester, NC; daughter-in-law, Shirley Lester of Webster City; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren and a niece, Deloris Tempel of Kamrar;

3 step-daughters, Linda Waddle and Mickey Van Doren, both of Iowa City; Karen (Mrs. John) Moenck of Washington, Ia.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard L. Lester; daughter, Joyce Black; grandchildren, ConnieLester and Clayton Black; brothers, William, Earl and Marion Urich; sisters, Amy Cartee, Gladys Heslop and Hazel Urich.

Mabel was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, was recorder/treasurer of Royal Neighbors Oak Camp # 578 for 29 years, was also a member of Purity Rebekah Lodge # 72, Legion Auxiliary # 191 and V.F.W. Auxiliary # 1856.
