Helen Beatrice Tidball Main died December 24, 2008 in Webster City, Iowa. Helen was born June 11, 1923 to Dr. Charles & Florence Tidball in Independence, Iowa. She graduated from Independence High School in 1941, then attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa for two terms, then one term at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

On August 26, 1942 she and Charles Edward Main were married and lived on his parents' farm and operated it for 3 _ years. They had their first son, Dale in 1943. In 1946 they moved into Independence. Their second son, Roger, was born in 1947 with Beverly arriving in 1949.

Helen started a preschool in 1956 which she taught and managed for 25 years. She was a charter member of the Iowa State Association for Young Children.

She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Independence, with youth group and women's group. After retirement, she and Chuck joined the national Good Sam Camping Club. They spent many winters in Arizona and Texas. Helen loved traveling and meeting new friends and seeing new places. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and spending time with her family.

Charles and Helen moved from Independence to Madrid, Iowa in 1993 and then to Slater, Iowa in 2001. Helen was a member of the Slater United Methodist Church and was active in UMW. In June of 2008, they moved to Webster City to the Crestview Apartments. While in Webster City, Charles and Helen attended Asbury United Methodist Church.

Helen is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, Dale (Martha) of Pittsburg and Roger (Carol) of Webster City; daughter, Beverly Swift of Des Moines; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Graham Petty; brothers, Wellar & Robert Tidball; son-in-law, Frank Swift.

Helen will be missed by all her family and friends and remembered as a loving and caring Christian.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater assisted the family with arrangements
