Frank Welch, 90, died December 26, 2008. His body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Central Christian Church in Boone. Burial of his cremains will be in the Sparks Cemetery, southwest of Boone.

Frank was born April 27, 1918, in Webster City, the son of Lawrence and Edna (Johnson) Welch. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1937. On October 22, 1941, Frank married Juanita Tolliver in Denver, Colo. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Frank was a photographer, and for 38 years, he owned Welch Studio in Boone, retiring in 1985. Frank was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Toastmasters, American Legion, Iowa Polka Club, and Iowa Antique Bottle Club. Frank was an active member of his church and Boy Scouts.

Frank is survived by his wife, Juanita of Boone; a son, Rev. Ted (Jan) Welch of Zearing; a daughter, Joan (Sheldon) Perkins of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three brothers, Lester (Nancy) Welch of Fullerton, Calif., Larry (Leanne) Hartley of Fort Dodge, and John (Ardys) Hartley of Cedar Park, Texas; a sister, Mary Alice (Vernon) Hanson of Bishop, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters.

Friends may call at the Central Christian Church on Wednesday an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to his church.
