Ernest J. Lanken, 88, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, Jan, 2, 2009 at the Greenleaf Health Care Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services were held at 130 p.m. Monday at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Willer officiating. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Ernest J. Lanken son of Christian and Anne Arps Lanken was born June 26, 1920 in Holstein, Germany. In September of 1929, he moved with his family to United States eventually residing in Webster City. He received his education from the Webster City Community Schools. He had been a resident at Greenleaf Health Care Center since May of 1986.

Ernest is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Ida Lanken of Webster City; brother-in-law, Jens Nelson of Fort Dodge; 5 nieces and nephews; 9 great nieces and great nephews; and 1 great great nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Nelson and brother, Walter Lanken.
