Syliva Hoover, 87, of Webster City, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Crestview Senior Living. The body was cremated and there will be no services at the present time.

Sylvia May Wilcox, daughter of Herb and Flossy Davenport Wilcox, was born Dec. 5, 1920 at Boone, Iowa. She received her education in Boone and Webster City schools, attending Lincoln High. On Jan. 20,1940, she married Clyde Hoover at Webster City. She had been employed as a bookkeeper and office worker at the Ford dealership, Franklin Manufacturing, ASCS office, Van Diest Supply and Farm Journal.

As a child, Sylvia resided at the Annie Wintermeyer Home at Davenport, later relocating to Webster City where she resided with the Murray Simpson family. Dean Simpson was her "adopted" brother.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Clyde; son and daughter-in-law, Lon and Marcia Hoover of Bend, Oregon; grandchildren, Mindy Brown of Aurora, CO; Mike Brown of Ames; Kent Hoover, Jennifer (David) Harper, all of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Christopher Harper; sisters, Vera, Shirley and Catherine.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter, Jill Brown, in 1996; her parents; a grandson, Kirk Hoover; and sisters, Olive and Jane.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and a former member of the CSP Club.

The family requests no flowers and memorials may be given to the Church of Christ or a charity of your choice.
