LeNora Isvik, 81, of Kamrar, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Rev. Mike Werner officiating. Vistitation will be held Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City. Private family burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.

LeNora Jean Arnold, daughter of Harry and Hattie Tapper Arnold, was born July 16, 1927 north of Kamrar. She graduated from Kamrar High School in 1944. On February 25, 1946, she married Sterling Isvik at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. From 1946, until April 1, 1947 the couple resided in San Francisco. In May of 1947, the couple moved to a farm southwest of Kamrar in which they farmed until 1995. She enjoyed wintering in Weslaco, TX. for the past 19 years.

LeNora was an active member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, where she had taught bible school and Christian education. LeNora greatly enjoyed being a farm wife and raised beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was noted for her good cooking, and especially her pies. LeNora loved entertaining family and friends and was always ready for a good card game. For many years she also enjoyed league bowling and was ever conscious of her health and living an active and healthy lifestyle. As LeNora faced health problems in recent years, she maintained a wonderfully positive attitude that proved inspiring to her family. She readily voiced how thankful she was for the many blessings she had throughout her life, especially the 62 years of marriage she enjoyed with her husband Sterling.

LeNora is survived by her husband, Sterling; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Sheri Isvik of Garner; granddaughter, Erin (Justin) Flage of Aplington, great-grandson, Spencer Allen Isvik; step grandchildren, Heather Weaver of Bemidji, MN; Clint, and Hayley Weaver of Garner; step great-grandchildren, Sarah Michelle Weaver, Buck Hunter Weaver, Jake Christopher Antencio; sister, Ferne Deakman of Webster City; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Bernard and Jeri Arnold of Plover, IA, Norman and Pat Arnold of Stratford; sister-in-law, Becke Arnold of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Shields; brothers, Gary Arnold and a brother in infancy, Harold Arnold; sister-in-law, Josie Arnold; and brothers-in-law, Francis Shields and Devon Deakman.
