Marvin Peterson, age 89, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Abington on Grand in Ames. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation is Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. Memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

Marvin Peterson was born March 16, 1919, in Jewell to Anton and Ida (Sundsbo) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. On June 14, 1959, Marvin married Madeline Stauffer at Bethesda Lutheran Church. They farmed until retirement. Marvin was a lifelong member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Marvin is survived by two sisters, Ina (Lee) Sabby of Valley City, North Dakota and Naomi Sabby of Estherville; four brothers, Arling (Ruth) Peterson of Ellsworth, Rev. Stanley (Marlys) Peterson of Hampton, Robert (Pat) Peterson, Sterling (Bette) Peterson, and a sister-in-law, June Peterson all of Jewell. Marvin is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madeline in 2006; his brother, Leslie in 2006; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Sabby
