Thomas F. Gollob, 85, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 10 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church with Rev. Lynn Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Surviving are his children, Thomas Gollob Jr. and his wife Barb of Fort Dodge, Connie Gilbert and her husband Ron of Webster City, Dan Gollob of Fort Dodge, Joyce Thoma and her husband Joe of Manson, Sharon Maxon and her husband Kurt of Webster City; daughter-in-laws, Pat Gollob Smith of Pocatello, ID and Aleta Gollob Olson of Fort Dodge; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Antonia (Haring) Gollob, his wife, Mary in 2003, a son, Don; a brother, Harold; and three great-grandsons, Josh Gollob Jr., and Braydon and Brody Gollob.

Thomas Francis Gollob was born March 23, 1923 in Fort Dodge. He attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1940. He was a carpenter working at Horn's making air craft hangar doors prior to being drafted.

On Jan. 27, 1943 he was united in marriage to Mary Musselman at Sacred Heart Church and they made their home in Fort Dodge.

He served in WWII with the US Army in the Amphibious Engineers Division serving in the Philippines, New Guinea and Australia. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Fort Dodge.

Tom was employed as a journeyman carpenter for various contractors in the Fort Dodge area for 40 years, retiring in 1985.

Tom was a founding member of Holy Rosary Parish. He enjoyed golf in his retirement, loved to travel and visit relatives around the country, and was always ready for a game of cards.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
