Vera A. Jones, age 96, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Grandview Care Center in Dayton, Iowa. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established; gifts may be sent to Roberta Lee Phillips, 880-39th Avenue, Goodview, Minnesota 55987.

Vera Aileen Voss was born in Kamrar on January 12, 1912, to Elmer and Ethel Mahala (Hare) Voss. She grew up in the Ellsworth area and later moved with her family to the Gilbert area. On March 19, 1936, Vera married Robert Lester Jones in Ames. They had owned and operated a service station and cafe south of Fort Dodge retiring to Lehigh. Vera has resided at the Grandview Care Center in Dayton the past few years.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Roberta Lee Phillips of Goodview, Minnesota; her son, Vern Allan (Sharon) Jones of Moorland, Iowa; three grandchildren, Eric Allan (Susan) Jones, Christopher Allan (Amy) Jones, and Debra Phillips; three great grandchildren, Lauren Kruse, Tyler Jones, and Abigail Kruse; and a sister, Virginia Beese of Story City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2001; a brother, Lyle Voss, and sisters, Muriel Ballantine and Kathryn Rutter.
