Mrs. Andrew (Malinda) Mickelson, daughter of Thomas and Julia Braland, was born February 26, 1875 on a farm east of Randall. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church at Story City.

In 1904 she was united in marriage to Andrew Mickelson. To this union four children were born, one son and three daughters.

She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church of Randall until shortly after the death of her husband in 1951. In 1952 she moved to Story City, thereafter she has been a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church.

She had been hospitalized since December 23 due to an injury from a fall, and died January 24 at the Story City Hospital at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 27 days.

Surviving her are one son, Melvin of North Liberty: three daughters, Julia (Mrs. Truman West), Celia (Mrs. Morrel West) both of Story City and Angie (Mrs. Tiller Knutson) of Stanhope; also 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; six sisters; three brothers and one grandchild.

While her health slowly ebbed in her later years, she was exceptionally alert, interested in the younger generation and above all faithful in her Christian beliefs.

Funeral services were held January 27 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Story City, following a prayer service. The Rev. Quentin Quanbeck officiated. Burial was at Mamrelund Cemetery east of Randall.

Pallbearers were six grandchildren; Howard West, Keith Mickelson, Larry West, Steve Knutson, Richard Holm and Paul Cascio.
